The best food I ever ate Part 1 -You’re welcome!

Let me talk about some of the best food I ever ate. This will likely be an ongoing segment because I totally love food. I love making it, eating it, watching shows about it and finding the best of it. I love all genres of food too. Street food, fast food, fine dining, pasta, a good burger, pizza…oh give me all the pizza. Ethnicity doesn’t matter either. Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian..the list is really long.

So when I find something so amazing, no matter if it’s a donut or a 5-course meal, I believe it’s worth remembering. And yes, I am one of those people who takes pictures of their food and posts about it on social media. Maybe my love of food is borderline obsession. It’s probably why I started a blog predominantly about food. If it’s good, I want to remember it and I want to tell others so they can experience it too. So this list right here is just the beginning of some of the best food I ever ate but this includes some of my absolute favorites. Put these on your list too.

The best food I ever ate is this Ribcap in Las Vegas

HOLY SHIT! The Ribcap cut at STK Las Vegas was to die for. At $90 for an 8oz portion it was beyond worth every-single-penny. It’s a beautiful cut of amazingness that I never wanted to end. This steak is hands down still probably thee best I’ve ever had. It was so tender and literally melts in your mouth like butter, I probably could have used a spoon to eat this.

I don’t think that this is always on the menu but if you go and it is, do yourself a favor and trust me. This was some of the best food I ever ate. And the ambiance and vibe alone is totally worth the visit but no matter what you order will not be disappointed. Everything at STK was delicious.

The best brick oven Vodka pie

Joe and Pats Pizzeria- Those of you who know me know that I love pizza, another borderline food obsession. So anytime I hear or read about one that claims to be the best, I have to try it. And let me tell you, Joe and Pats is one of the best. It’s not your typical NY slice but it’s worthy of being on a list. My absolute favorite is their Vodka pie. The brick oven crust is the perfect thinness and the right amount of crisp. The cream sauce is just enough to make this stand out in your mind forever. They are actually a full blown restaurant but honestly I’ve never had anything else but their pizza because that’s how good it is.

Joes Brick Oven Vodka Pie

Square Detroit style pizza in Williamsburg Brooklyn

So I’ve read some articles that Emmy Squared in Williamsburg is popular for their burgers and they have even made a top 5 list of best burgers in the City. Don’t get me wrong, their burger is pretty good and definitely worth a try but I think the real star here is their pizza. It’s square (maybe that’s where the name comes from ;)) but it’s not super thick or thin.

It comes 6 slices and perfect for two. The bottom has this ultimate cheesy crisp. It’s super addicting. I’ve had their Classic Red pizza, which is basically cheese and tomato sauce and their White Pizza Heaven Pie. The Heaven pie is a white based pizza, with mushrooms and a truffle sauce. The pizza was delicious. With a name like Heaven Pie it certainly left me feeling like a sinner. It was so worth it!

Baby Jesus cake in Astoria, Queens

Vesta Vino -La Torta del Piccolo Bambino Gesu Cristo. Yes that’s right Sweet baby Jesus cake. Definitely sent from heaven, this date cake is nothing short of delicious. Smothered in a light caramel sauce and topped with a dollop of whipped cream, you will want to save room for this dessert. Skeptical at first because hearing “date cake” you think of those horrid Christmas fruit cakes, but its NOTHING like that. I’ve been getting the Baby Jesus from the first night since I started going back in 2008. Their other dishes and brunches are amazing too.

Soup Dumplings to burn your mouth for

Shanghai Kitchen and Little Dumpling -I have both of these places on the list because they are equally delicious. Shanghai kitchen is in the heart of China town in NYC and where I first tried them. Pre-Covid the dining in was a whole different experience in and of itself. It was a super hustle and bustle type place where they are always jammed, from the wait at the door to the tables themselves. If you were a party of two you could expect to sit with complete strangers if it meant getting you served as quickly as possible. Definitely was a new meaning to family style. But it was all worth it because these little purses filled with hot soup and delicious pork and are incredible. Given our current times, I imagine this definitely isn’t happening anymore. Then there was the more mellow regular seating option in Queens at Little Dumpling in Bayside. I was happy to find this place because they were equally amazing. For the ultimate party in your mouth, you have to try these.

Burger on a Donut in New Orleans

In 2017 I took a really great trip to NOLA. It’s a really fun City with so much to do. From all sorts of arts and entertainment to endless bars and so much delicious food. We definitely ate our way through this City and there are so many note worthy places that I’ll definitely share at some point. But this spot is one that I have not stopped thinking about since.

District Donuts, Sliders, and Brews– are known for, well their donuts and sliders (and brews). Skipping the coffee, I went straight for the Donut and Slider, together. I didn’t see it on the menu together so I just asked for it. Instead of a burger bun, I asked them to use their plain fried donut. Let me tell you, it was absolutely one of thee best things I ever ate. Likely a heart attack on a plate, but I never even felt the slightest ounce of guilt, nor did I ever forget this burger. If you find yourself in New Orleans anytime soon, do yourself a favor and stop here!

Clam bowl in Queens

Barosa’s This local hot spot is a favorite among many. Every time I go it is a must that I get the Clam’s Barosa which is my absolute favorite thing on their menu. This appetizer is absolutely everything and never disappoints. It’s fresh Clams served in a white wine sauce (also available in red) served right in a hot brick oven bread bowl!! The warm fresh bread sops up all the clam juice deliciousness.

Put your carb counting aside because this dish is so highly addicting. Before you know it, the whole table is tearing it apart enjoying the juiced up bread. In fact, it is so good that I often think about making it my entire meal so I can have it all to myself. My whole night would literally be complete with this and some nice Italian red wine for sure. There’s a Mussels or Calamari variation too but the white clams are just so amazing that I can’t deviate.

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich…anywhere

Yes it’s true. I am in love with this sandwich, and it is on my list. It totally deserved all the hype it got. The Popeye’s chicken sandwich does not feel like it comes from a fast-food joint. Breaded to crispy perfection and a great mix of spices that aren’t overwhelming, but subtly delish! The buttered brioche bun has the right amount of mayo and pickles.

Even though I don’t love pickles on my sandwiches, they somehow do something a little extra to complete this one. And for $4, this sandwich is everything. I waited on a long line for this during pandemic – we were socially distanced and took all the proper precautions of course but I happily waited to have this sandwich. And yes I’ve had the Chik- Fila and yea it’s good but it doesn’t beat Popeyes, you cannot change my mind.

Tune in next time when I tell you where to find the best Chocolate chip cookie, no really I swear and ingenious Elote pizza and honestly so many more because I have a lot of favorites that are just that good.
